Last Seattle Weekend

Oh goodness gracious! How did that weekend come and go so fast!  So much to cover! Yikes!

Saturday, April 26, 2014.  My, oh my, Saturday... Let's start with Aaron's parents coming into town. They arrived around 11:30 am and we met them at the, ironically, local tex-mex place. Aaron and I posted up at the bar, because that's where we prefer to sit. Aaron's parents walk in, and first thing, Aaron's cute mom is all teary eyed. Right out of the gates, we knew this weekend was going to be difficult. So, we started with some fajitas and margaritas to numb the sadness. It worked for most of weekend. We had a good lunch, then proceeded to visit the neighborhood vodka distilleries instead of packing. We kept it classy, came back to the apartment and cooked a little dinner before we headed to our neighborhood Jabu's pub. They have great karaoke and Aaron and I get preferential treatment when it come to song rotations. So, this is random. Aaron's best friend from childhood just so happened to be in town for work and he ended up meeting us out as well, which was awesome, but didn't make it any easier when it came to saying goodbyes, but we'll skip that sad part. Love you Derek. Anyway, we were having our going away party at the bar and our closest friends showed up. The night starts out pretty low key, and THANK GOD, the bar was out of fireball. Don't you worry though the night did take a turn, as it always does, and Aaron's father, who is somehow louder and more fun than Aaron, procured scissors from the bartender and proceeded to cut the sleeves off of his shirt and off all of the other guys' shirts. Aaron had on this sweet black western shirt with red piping that was given to him by our friend Jordan and right before he decided to cut the shirt, I gave him a pretty good death look which thankfully made him take back his decision. However, Aaron stilled felt left out and decided to leave the bar, walk back up to our apartment, and change into a sleeveless KISS shirt and levi's jean vest. Thank goodness, because how embarrassing for Aaron to be the only one with sleeves. I think that actually recaps the night pretty well.

Sunday, April 27, 2014. The next day was a rough, but good one. We got up in the morning, recapped the night, and then decided to walk up Queen Anne hill and get a cupcake from Cupcake Royale. My FAVORITE! We walked around Queen Anne to soak in the views with the fam one more time then headed back to the house to say our goodbyes. Lots of tears were shed, hugs were given, and farewells said. It was hard to see Aaron having to say goodbye to his parents. I know what that feels like, because I’ve had to do it so many times and it never gets easier. After they left you would have thought that Aaron and I would start packing, but instead we took a nap. J We’ve been going 100 mph so a nap actually served us well. We got up and went to church for the last time in Seattle at Bethany Community Church with Richard Dalstrom. Richard spoke about loving your neighbor, which he explained that neighbors are people that surround you by happenstance. After church our friend Kevin had us over for dinner. Kevin can cook! We wanted to contribute so we stop at the QFC to get a six pack of Rainier and a bottle of wine. On our way to Kevin’s house we are stopped at a light and a homeless man asked us for money, but we didn’t have any cash on us. So Aaron reached in the backseat, grabbed a tall boy and asked the guy he if he wanted a beer. Of course the man said yes. I’m pretty sure he didn’t say thank you, but Aaron smiled at him, told him have a good day, shrugged his shoulders, looked at me while he started driving off, and said, “Love your neighbor”. I love that man.

This is how the night ended up looking. Aaron had fun with the boys and I ate some Kevin cooking.
